Firetrucks, Kissing, and Warm Weather - Oh My!

Yep.  It was one of those days.  I think we can add full moon to that list too.  It wasn't a bad day.  It was one of those days where I wanted to ask the Earth to stop spinning, just so I could get off for a minute.   It was a whirlwind of a day!

We had some 60 degree weather here today, which doesn't happen here in March often.  The kids (and I) loved it!  Annnddd I think it was the warm weather that triggered the fire alarm (in my room, nonetheless).  So we spent 20 minutes outside watching the firetrucks, ambulances and police cars come flying in with lights flashing and sirens blaring.  This happened at 9:30.  Try getting the kids to calm down after that!

And apparently, love is in the air in my classroom.  Some of my students insisted on singing the K-I-S-S-I-N-G song at lunch.  We had a pow-wow about how there are NO boyfriends and girlfriends in school.  And that teasing is mean.  It took every ounce of energy from my resource teacher and myself to keep from laughing out loud during this serious sit-down.

Phew!

In other news, I spent Tuesday morning at an in-school professional development.  I hate being out of my classroom, but I do really enjoy learning new things!  Most of our PD is after-school and I'm just so tired that I can't pay much attention.  So this morning one was somewhat of a relief.  Luckily I came back to a note from my sub that said my kids were great!  And this little note that made me happy:

Just made my day!

While we were at our meeting, we got to visit another second grade classroom.  I don't get to do this much, so it was fun to look around my colleague's room and steal borrow some ideas!  One thing that I liked was her writing mini-offices.  I liked it so much that I'm going to make some for my room!

I've only made one so far.  17 more to go.  Here's some pics:

Also, I have a few {very random} questions:

1. I want a home laminator.  Anyone have a good one that they really like?

2. How do you put the price on your units when you pin them to Pinterest?

Happy Almost Friday!!

  1. I love the mini-offices! They are super cute. About three weeks ago I FINALLY broke down about a laminator and after some research I ended up with the GBC® HeatSeal® QuickStart™ H320 Pouch Laminator. It is amazing! It was about $150. It heats up super super fast and has three settings for the lamination thickness. I have laminated a TON of things since I bought it and have not had a single problem!

  2. Home laminator? No idea. :)

Price on Pinterest? Just type the price in on the description and it *should* automatically put the little price banner on the image.

I LOVE good PD!! I do NOT love the full moon and/or random fire alarms. Good luck tomorrow!

  3. Hi there! I love your blog! Thanks for your comments on my blog. I also wanted to tell you about a laminator that I bought at Costco . . . it was $19.99 and it works great. . . it has 2 settings for thickness and I love laminating with it. I think it was a Purple Cow or something like that! :)

    Thanks again for stopping by!

  6. I love your offices. We had 85 degrees last week and it was 45 today...and rainy! BLAH! Not the best way to start Spring Break but I am FREEEEEEEE!

I had to have a talk with my Firsties in February about how we all like EVERYONE since we are a School Family. When one said something about someone liking someone else, I was like "Of course he does, she is his School sister!"
