Grandma?!?!

As teachers, I'm sure, we've all been called "mom" more times than we can count, by our students.  I always take it as a compliment.  They are comfortable enough around me that they can call me mom without thinking about it.

However...one of my cutie patooties turned to me today and said "Grandma?"  What?!?!  I'm only 26!  Where did grandma come from??  I must have looked appalled because the poor thing got all flustered: "I mean...I mean...I'm sorry!" He's a great kid so I just kinda busted him up about it and we both had a good laugh.  I'm still shaking my head about it though....grandma...sheesh.

  2. LOL! I always take it as a good sign that they call the teacher by the name of a loved one. I downloaded your new mother's day poem templates. Thank you so much for sharing them. I especially like the bow on the frame. I am your newest follower :)

    1. Thanks for the Mother's Day freebie. Very cute! ( I have been called Grandma before also. I'm 37. The little one that called me Grandma lived with his Grandma rather than his Mom, so I rationalized with myself that, that was why he called me Grandma. ( I'm hoping that's why anyway.)

Have a fabulous rest of the week.

  6. I've been called "Grandma" many times! I always have students who live with their grandma rather than their mom, so that's what they're used to! I've also gotten "Dad" a time or two!

  8. LOL! I get "mom" alot with my preschoolers... it makes me smile b/c they just say it without thinking and it feels good that they feel so comfortable to do that unknowingly.

  10. LOL!! I teach 5th grade and get called mom, aunt...all the time. The best part about teaching upper grades is that you can joke with the kids and use sarchasm. I had one boy call me grandma one time. All the kids gasped and laughed. He looked mortified and I calmly told him, "You can call me mom, aunt, sister...but call me grandma again, and you flunk!" He got a chuckle out of that one.
