Today was my last day with my students before Thanksgiving (teachers have PD tomorrow). We did lots of turkey activities! We used Lisa's Thanksgiving How to Writing {free!} and their answers were so funny!
How to Make a Turkey:
First, you buy a nice looking turkey and bring it home.
First, shoot the turkey. Next, stab the turkey. Last, eat the turkey.

I teach in a very rural area, can you tell??
How to Bake a Pumpkin Pie:
First, you get the pie at the bakery and when you get home, you can eat it cold or warm.
That's definitely how I make my pies!
And I wrote a Thanksgiving book!
My resource teacher was struggling with teaching her students the concept of retelling a story simply because she didn't have enough time to read a full book and then discuss the parts of the story. So I said that I would write one!
I wrote a very basic story that includes characters, a setting, problem, solution and 3 main events. It's called Tom the Turkey's Great Idea. I had so much fun writing it! The kids got a kick out of the fact that their teacher wrote it too.
I ended up writing two Thanksgiving stories!
