Your deskless room looks great! I can't believe how neat and organized you are! I need to take some pointers. My teacher toolbox is my favorite creation as well! It's amazing!
I don't have a desk either! We have horseshoe tables that we call our desks. We meet with students in small groups there. I have shelves and items that keep all of my belongings, just like you, and it works great! Our assistants have desks on the rooms and I wish we could replace them with a table, but we are not allowed!
I just got rid of my desk today and joined the teacher table club! So far, I am loving it and can't wait to give it a spin on Monday! I literally thought this exact thing when I left school today -- how I wished my assistant would get rid of her desk.. However, she uses it all day long and would be lost without it.
I love how organized your room is! I don't have a desk either, my coworkers think I'm crazy though. I am sure you probably have had some of the same comments! But I don't mind because I always know where everything is this way! :)
I love not having a desk! At the beginning of the year when I got rid of it people were so confused and thought I was crazy. People still walk in and ask where my desk is! It was a great way to clear up space in the room! Rambling About Reading
I have gone back and forth each year with wanting a desk! I apparently can't make up my mind! This year we got "desks" but they were more just a space for our computer...My small group table ends up taking the hit with my papers, etc. Soooo, I've been trying and trying to get more organized to keep away the daily accumulations! :) I'm taking in 2 3-drawer tubs to help after this break. Let's hope it works! Seriously though.. a cleaner, clutter-free table top makes for a happier teacher! :)
I have two desks in my classroom and I can.not get rid of them :( We have a list of furniture that must stay in our rooms. I wish I could give mine away. Huge waste of space! LOVE your room. tania My Second Sense
Hmmm, I may have to get rid of my desk! I've been telling my kids my resolution is to keep my every cluttered desk cleaner. This might be the best way to make it happen! I LOVE how organized you are. I need a personal assistant and more time in a day, I think.
I pulled up my Pinterest today after school and got to making over my teacher area! I found this post last night and was inspired! I have wanted to get rid of my big clunky desk for a while, but wasn't sure how to go about doing that.. Thanks for the fabulous pictures that encouraged me to just go for it. I am SO happy with the final product!

I want to go desk-less too! LOL! This is on my list for next school year! It's hard to change but I think it will be a positive change!! Thanks for sharing and being brave! Gina Beach Sand and Lesson Plans
This year I moved from PreK to 2nd, and decided I didn't need a desk either. I'm not sure if it was the 7 years with little ones or my inability to sit still that made the decision so easy, but I don't miss it. I, too, have great little bins that help me stay organized and ready for my students to visit me at my teacher table. You have great ideas and organization is key when making this move! People keep asking me where my teacher desk is, and I tell them it takes up too much space. For all those out there trying to decide...just do it! :-)
I got rid of my desk about 3 years ago and I don't miss it!

ReplyDeleteEven though I spend almost zero time at my desk, I'm not sure I could actually get rid of it. Cudos to you, though! Looks great :)

I need more information on the "tool box". Where did you find it or how do you make it?
